Introduction to Ed Sheeran

Ed Sheeran is a singer/songwriter who has recently made a massive breakthrough in the music industry and is currently signed with Asylum/Atlantic Records, a big American record label who have been responsible for countless numbers of hits over the last 60 years. Ed Sheeran has been recording since 2005 but has only just been noticed by the public on the release of his single "The A Team" and his first commercial album "+" (released 12th Septemper 2011). Ed Sheeran's debut single "The A Team" went into the UK charts at number 3 and was given the name of highest selling and highest charting debut single of 2011.

This was closely followed up by his amazing album "+" produced by Jake Gosling: a music producer/songwriter/remixer/manager and publisher who has done remixes for big artists like Lady Gaga and Nelly Furtado. "+" is currently at number 7 in the UK album charts and rapidly moving upwards. The album is recognised for its heartfelt lyrics and acoustic mix of pop and rap music. Ed Sheeran combines both of these genres in most of his songs and creates a completely different sound, one of the most famous and popular of these being "You Need Me I Don't Need You".

Hi my name is Jess Kemp and I am currently doing a BTEC music course at school which involves learning about the music industry. I am a solo singer, who plays the piano and I have done various gigs and open mics around Nottingham.
